Good to have had S Mattiello from Neotel on the show. Could have pushed him more on the absence of ethernet on the Neotel device though! ![]()
Everyone I know will never even consider switching to Neotel if there’s no support for ethernet routers. Sharing/routing the connection is key in most households.
I’m enjoying your show guys – Thanks. I have a few comments which are hopefully positive. Can we increase the sound a wee bit and level it out too? I think it would be nice if you sometimes look at technology from a more South African perspective rather than from a US or UK perspective. Another interesting area is Dial-up which you may have neglected – Recently in the US researchers found that 62% of dial-up users had no interest in “Doing Broadband” http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/210186/dialup-users-dont-want-broadband.html Now I’m sure in SA there are a whole lot more Dial-up users – so don’t throw those US Robotics modem’s away yet! How about discussing how we can reuse, donate or discard of our existing PC’s and electronic peripherals … or even perhaps initiatives around it? Oh and finally, not sure who said it on this episode as I sometimes don’t remember if it is Ben, Duncan or Brett – (Simon I always recognise you) but you asked Stefano that you would like a “more” convergent telecoms company – Please NO as we already have one called Telkom (or is it Hellkom?) so I’d rather spend a few minutes a month paying the separate bills BUT have the freedom of choice!

Re dissing serial ports, I’ve got a 7 year old Palm Vx that only syncs via COM. And no, there isn’t any mobile device that works as well (for me) as the Vx:
-Form factor and weight
-Battery lasts more than a week
-Good user interface and input system, Graffiti *1* still rules!
MAYBE the iPhone will be half decent enough, we’ll have to wait and see.
